Yeah! Have managed to rescue 129 GB c:\Users folder for someone. faulty HDD, broken partition table

Do you use parted for such rescues? It works quite well for me too when necessary.

I've used ddrescue to clone the disk into an image, gpart for guessing partition layout, parted & fdisk for some checks ++

I've also used dd and mount -o loop for the rest.
